Rock the Block Deliverable 7.1.1 (Panteion University)

This report provides a “Review of the European Housing Policy at the Local Level”, focusing on specific examples of local policies, projects and initiatives that may inform and support the efforts made in the framework of the “Rock the Block” project. It collects innovative (mostly local) actions for housing affordability, housing sustainability, social inclusion and community participation, as well as public structures and services related to housing. The collection of examples is not exhaustive but rather indicative, focused on the objectives of the “Rock the Block” project and aiming to inspire the project’s partners, as well as the project’s beneficiaries, the residents and the local actors. The ultimate goal (and this report is just one first step) would be to formulate “roadmaps” for affordable housing, in the form of well-informed policy briefs, housing strategies, plans, policies etc., both at the local and the national level, and in the long-term. Methodologically, this report is based on desk research, including the study of legislation, policy papers, reports, municipal websites, articles in the press, and academic articles, among others.
